Shape the shire’s future

It’s likely to be one of the most important conversations for Noosa Shire and there are certainly plenty of ways to have your voice heard.

The community is being asked to consider what’s important in managing the shire for residents and visitors, as work starts on developing a Destination Management Plan.

This weekend, the first in a series of relaxed coffee chats across the Shire will be held at Kin Kin’s Black Ant Cafe, Sunday 1 October between 12.30-2pm.

Council’s Economic Development and Destination Management Manager Lynne Banford said it was important to hear as many different views as possible.

“This is the start of the conversation and we are endeavouring to get to as many places in the shire to hear the collective wisdom of all stakeholders,” she said.

Coffee chat locations:

– Wednesday October 4, Zabe Tewantin 10:30am – 12pm.

– Tuesday October 10 Sunshine Social Sunshine Beach 10am – 12pm.

– Saturday October 14 Harvest Fresh Cooroy 10-11.30am.

– Wednesday October 18 Outer Sqare Peregian 9-10.30am.

– Tuesday October 24 Forest Café Acres Noosaville 10.30am-12pm

– Saturday October 28 Trail 518 Pomona 9.30-11am.

Aside from coffee chats, there are six community workshops.

The first is at Council Chambers in Tewantin on Wednesday 4 October from 4-6pm. The second community workshop will be at The J on Tuesday 10 October from 4-6pm.

Participants need to register for these workshops at yoursay.noosa.qld.gov.au.

Interactive sessions are also scheduled for Cooroy, Peregian Beach, Noosaville and Pomona during October.

Ms Banford said the response to date had been encouraging.

“We are getting good numbers filling out the two surveys and reading the Discussion Paper, so hopefully we see a strong turnout at the workshops,” she said.

To provide your thoughts and ideas, visit yoursay.noosa.qld.gov.au or simply email a submission to mailbox@noosa.qld.gov.au

It’s an opportunity for our community to come together and craft a sustainable future, ensuring that Noosa continues to offer an unforgettable experience for generations to come.
