Uniting for animal welfare

A pallet of food for animals in need, is a demonstration of what can happen when people band together.

Dawn McQueen sells second hand books in the Diggers Bar of Tewantin Noosa RSL to raise money for abused, neglected and abandoned animals. If you are an avid reader, it is a great place to pick up a great book at a great price and know that your money is going to a great cause.

Damian Langdon from InTouch Electrical transforms Leith Place in Tewantin into a Christmas Wonderland each year. All the houses and nearly all the trees are decorated.

Last Christmas, Dawn and Damian teamed up to raise money for animal welfare. They put three signs up in the cul-de-sac and all residents and visitors to the lights were encouraged to donate some money. They raised $1000.

Tewantin Noosa RSL were impressed by this feat and added another $500 to the tally.

Last month, Damian and Dawn took some time out of their busy schedules and travelled to Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge Society (SCARS) at Tanawha with the huge pallet of goodies that the had been able to purchase with the funds they raised.

Needless to say, the volunteers at SCARS were overwhelmed and touched by the gesture.
