Turning up the love

Love is in the air at Noosa Chocolate Factory — and this Valentine’s Day, it’s also dipped in pink chocolate.

From Monday, February 9, one of the local chocolate maker’s most popular treats is making a short and sweet return with a romantic makeover: freeze-dried Australian strawberries coated in creamy white chocolate, finished with a layer of naturally pink ruby chocolate.

It’s the same crunchy, strawberry-packed favourite that fans know and love — just dressed up for Valentine’s Day and ready to break a few hearts when it disappears again.

The original version has long been a hit with customers, thanks to its bold strawberry flavour, crisp bite and smooth white chocolate coating. This time around, the addition of ruby chocolate brings a subtle berry tang and a rosy glow that feels tailor-made for gift-giving season.

Unlike coloured or flavoured chocolates, ruby chocolate gets its pink hue naturally from specially selected cocoa beans. Its gentle tartness sits somewhere between dark, milk and white chocolate, making it an unexpectedly perfect match for sweet white chocolate and intensely flavoured strawberries.

Noosa Chocolate Factory CEO Marcus Raward said the Valentine’s twist was an easy decision.

“This product has always been one of our most popular,” he said. “Adding ruby chocolate gives it something genuinely different — in flavour and appearance — and makes it a bit of fun for Valentine’s Day.”

The limited-edition strawberries will be available only for a short time and in limited quantities at Noosa Chocolate Factory stores, including Noosaville, Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore, Brisbane’s Adelaide Street, and the company’s newest store at Westfield Chermside.

For those hunting for a last-minute Valentine’s gift — or just an excuse to treat themselves — the message is clear: don’t wait too long.

When the pink chocolate’s gone, so is the love.
