As works continue on the $1 billion Gympie bypass, temporary road closures and detours will be in place at Randwick Road, East Deep Creek and Gympie Connection Road.
“This temporary closure is required for the construction of the two bridges carrying the new Bruce Highway over Randwick Road, and to upgrade a 150m section of Randwick Road which is under the new bridge area, at East Deep Creek,” Wide Bay MP Llew O’Brien said.
“Access for residents, postal, and waste services will continue to operate for properties located on Randwick and Leeann roads, west of the North Coast Rail line.”
“There will also be a temporary road closure of Gympie Connection Road at Victory Heights.”
This temporary closure is required to continue construction of the new Gympie Interchange to carry the new Bruce Highway alignment over Gympie Connection Road, and to upgrade a section of Gympie Connection Road between the North Coast Rail Line and the intersection with Ascot and Old Goomboorian roads at Victory Heights.
To complete these works, Gympie Connection Road will be closed to through traffic between Tin Can Bay Road and Browns Road, and Randwick Road traffic will be detoured via East Deep Creek and Williams Roads at East Deep Creek from 6am on Tuesday 10 January to Saturday 29 April.
“The current works, Section D, which is the four lane 26 Kilometre realignment of the Bruce Highway between Cooroy and Curra is set to open in mid-2024 and will bypass Gympie, eliminating eight sets of traffic lights,” Mr O’Brien said.
