Visit Noosa new website wins award

Visit Noosa’s key marketing platform – visitnoosa.com.au – has undergone a major refresh to deliver Noosa inspiration for visitors and has won a GOV Design Award for 2021.

The new experience features interactive maps and itineraries, enhanced operator listings, integrated book ability, native Instagram feeds, lightning-fast search and search engine optimisation for high search visibility.

Emergency Management Minister Bridget McKenzie said the jointly Australian-Queensland Government funded Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements helped communities get back on track and recover from disasters.

“The 2019 bushfires had a significant impact on tourism and I’m excited that funding under the DRFA contributed to this award-winning resource to boost the ’shop local’ message to residents and visitors alike, not only helping Noosa’s tourism businesses but also benefitting the recovery of the wider community,“ she said.

Employment and Small Business Minister Di Farmer said the upgraded website would help tourism and hospitality businesses throughout Noosa, along with their suppliers.

“The appeal of Noosa’s beaches, hinterlands and vibrant businesses is memorable for everyone who visits, and this website will help get more people thinking of coming for a holiday to start booking their accommodation and planning the activities, restaurants and other experiences they want to include in their itineraries,“ she said.

“Recovering from the bushfires and then adapting to the changing business conditions as we respond to Covid-19 has been especially challenging for Queensland’s small and tourism businesses. I’m sure this award-winning website will encourage people to get to Noosa and support the businesses here.“

Tourism Noosa chief executive officer Melanie Anderson said, “A custom booking widget also provides visitors the ability to easily search and book accommodation directly on the site, providing visitors with a one-stop location for all of their Noosa inspiration”.

“Another unique aspect of the site was made possible by a grant provided by the Queensland Government, Department of Employment, Small Business and Training featuring custom mapping of Noosa villages and experiences. Helping visitors plan their ultimate trip, the custom mapping allows users to discover and explore Noosa’s villages and experiences. The maps are supplemented by a series of printed maps covering all destinations” said Ms Anderson.

Evolution 7s founder and creative director Mack Nevill oversaw the delivery of the site and said: “A key priority for the website was to ensure from a design perspective that clean lines and white space was featured to stagger components, giving the site breathing room and ultimately a more bespoke look and feel. This is not only aesthetically beautiful, but helps users navigate the site and find content.“
