Man charged in relation to the murder of Meaghan Louise Rose

Detectives from the Crime and Intelligence Command Cold Case Investigation Team have charged a man in relation to the alleged murder of Meaghan Louise Rose on the Sunshine Coast in 1997.

The man was arrested in New South Wales on 2 January by virtue of a Queensland arrest warrant and detectives successfully applied for his extradition from New South Wales on Friday 10 January.

The 72-year-old man has been charged with murder and was set to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Saturday 11 January.

Police continue their appeal for information and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers.

A $500,000 reward remains on offer for information that leads to the conviction of the person, or persons, found to be responsible for Meaghan’s murder.

In addition to the reward, an appropriate indemnity from prosecution will be recommended for any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the crime, who first gives such information.
