Jump on board regional leadership program

The Wide Bay Burnett region has been chosen for a pilot round of a Leadership for Our Regions program, a new initiative to help drive the region’s growth.

Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien is urging up-and-coming local leaders to apply for the inaugural Leadership for Our Regions program, which is an eight-day, two-session residential immersive development opportunity, available to successful applicants in a scholarship format.

“This fantastic new initiative will identify and foster aspiring regional leaders, share their ideas and visions of what Wide Bay should look like,” he said.

“The two sessions will help start an important conversation about economic and social insights that will help secure the region’s future, giving participants a stronger understanding of leadership and building a network of future leaders for ongoing collaboration.”

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, Michael McCormack, said the Federal Liberal and Nationals Government was pleased to partner with the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation (ARLF) and the Regional Australia Institute (RAI) to support the initiative.

“This great new initiative is about supporting emerging leaders and equipping them with the economic tools and skills to drive prosperity and growth into the future,” Mr McCormack said.

“Leadership for our Regions is aimed at people deeply committed to their region who have a desire to serve the community by identifying and driving viable initiatives to support future regional growth.”

Applications are open until 20 June 2019 for the sessions, which will be held in early August.
