Noosa charity WomenKind is set to host an empowering luncheon with a dynamic crusader against domestic violence, Rosie Batty.

Rosie was awarded the 2015 Australian of the Year, less than a year after her ex-partner murdered their son Luke in February 2014.

Fronting the media on the morning after his death was the start of her becoming an outspoken crusader, dedicated to campaigning for an end to violence against women and children.

The luncheon will take place with a group of experts on Friday 2 September at Noosa Boathouse from 11.30am.

The Boathouse will provide a two course lunch and drink for $75 and tickets are selling fast.

WomenKind founder Josanne Falla said she would love for as many people as possible to attend this one-time only intimate conversation.

“We were lucky enough to secure a sponsor to bring Rosie up to speak at Mingle with The Mayors Ball on 3 September,“ Josanne said.

“The ball tickets were sold out in three days. We felt the call to provide another function in order to enable us to reach more people, particularly women, and invited five local women who are experts in the fields of DFV in one way or another to join Rosie for a conversation that matters.

“The lunch named Empowerment through Education will be a Q&A to our experts as to how and what we need to do to create positive and lasting changes for women.

“Let’s break the cycle of Domestic and Family Violence together.“

WomenKind Australia is a member based not for profit which aims to empower, educate and support local women to achieve their potential.

At the panel discussion, sponsored by Be Super Fierce, you will hear from: Rosie Batty, AO & Co-Chair of White Ribbon Australia; Janelle Parsons, author of House of Shadows; Kathleen Hope, General Manager, SunnyKids; Naomi Todd, Domestic Violence Action Centre & HR Consultant; and Karen Marsh, Mens Domestic Violence Counsellor.
