Walk for awareness for those living with disability

Sunshine Butterflies Disability Charity is gearing up for its inaugural Walk in Wings event on Friday.

Walk in Wings is an all-inclusive, 1.5km accessible walk along the Noosa River that will bring the community together to create awareness and celebrate people of all abilities in the community

The event focuses on creating community awareness and celebrating the wonderful and different abilities of everyone.

Sunshine Butterflies is calling on the local community, including school groups, community groups, organisations and people from all walks of life, to register to be a part of this walk to help raise awareness for individuals living with disability.

The disability charity is getting excited for a fun morning at the Noosa River with special guests including winners of The Block 2020 Jimmy and Tam, Sunshine Butterflies event sponsors Cerge, McGrath Noosa and Team Body Corp, as well as entertainment from Sunshine Butterflies members and a live outside broadcast with Sam and Ash and MC, Nugget from Hot 91.

People will be dressed in purple and wearing amazing wings to create a kaleidoscope of colour as they walk together to raise awareness for individuals living with disability.

Chief executive officer and founder Leanne Walsh said, “After a trying couple of years, it’s so nice to be able to host an event that connects us as a community.

“We have been faced with many challenges that have led us to feel separated from one another and this event is designed to break down those barriers and help raise awareness for our neighbours and friends living with disability in our community.”

Walk in Wings will be held Friday 19 November from 6-8:30am at Noosaville Lions Park, Gympie Terrace, Noosa River.

Register at walkinwings.com.au Each registration includes a hat and lanyard.
