Council to be live streamed in 2019

Noosa Council is on track to being live streamed next year after councillors voted unanimously at Monday’s General Committee Meeting in favour of live streaming its meetings and will make its final decision at its Ordinary Meeting on Thursday.

Councillor Ingrid Jackson who initiated the issue earlier in the year welcomed its introduction.

“I believe this initiative, which I have been pursuing for some months, demonstrates the Council’s commitment to openness and transparency and will be welcomed by the people of Noosa Shire,” she said.

“Making Council meetings available for online viewing is a particularly important step because it will make Council’s decision-making available in real time and for delayed viewing by the vast majority of people who cannot get to Council meetings.

“Even Councillors who cannot attend a meeting in person when on recreation or sick leave will benefit from this system.

“The Queensland Government’s recent Belcarra Act puts an emphasis on transparency, integrity and accountability and Noosa Council will be responding positively to this by making available online the proceedings of these two main meetings.”
