Turning plastic into treasure

Precious Plastic Noosa is set to spark creativity, curiosity and environmental action these school holidays with a new Kids School Holiday Workshop, offering children the chance to turn plastic waste into something wonderful.

Held on Wednesday 14 and 21 January 2026, from 9:30am to 11:30am, at the Noosa Visitor Information Centre on Hastings Street, the two-hour workshop empowers young eco-champions to understand the impacts of plastic waste while learning how everyday items can be transformed into new treasures.

Designed for kids aged 7-13 years old, the workshop begins with an engaging plastic education session where kids will discover why single-use plastics are such a global challenge, how different recycling numbers work, and the journey of a bottle cap from rubbish to resource.

Each child receives their own activity handout to learn, colour and explore as they go.

The action ramps up as kids move through four fully supervised, hands-on stations led by Blue Card accredited educators.

Activities include sorting bottle tops collected from local Noosa businesses into colour and plastic type; shredding plastic using a kid-friendly bench top shredder; exploring activities from their handout and shaping plastic into their very own creation.

Each participant will finish the session with their very own recycled creation, choosing either a pen or a surf wax comb made with their own hands.

Tickets are $35 per child with all materials provided, and parents are welcome to drop and go.
