Two people arrested in Tewantin after a stolen vehicle was tracked down

Police have charged two people after a stolen vehicle was tracked to Tewantin on Thursday 20 March.

It will be alleged that a Toyota Corolla was stolen from a Nambour address on 19 March.

At 7:30am on Thursday, the Toyota was observed travelling along the Bruce Highway at Nambour before it was tracked to a carpark near Poinciana Avenue at Tewantin.

Officers then took two people, a 24-year-old Nambour man and a 23-year-old Pimpama woman, into custody nearby.

During a search of the vehicle, it will be further alleged that a firearm was found and seized.

The 24-year-old Nambour man has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, receiving tainted property, possessing counterfeit money, unlawful possession of weapons, authority required to possess explosives.

He was refused police bail and was set to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday.

The 23-year-old Pimpama woman has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, fraud.

She is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on 4 April.
