Sunday was a busy day for the Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew, who airlifted two patients from separate crashes in the Gympie region.
In the first incident, the crew attended a motocross park on Brady’s Road, Curra, at 9.50am after a man in his 30s crashed on a jump and sustained a head injury.
The LifeFlight critical care doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) flight paramedic worked with local QAS paramedics to treat the patient.
Then, at 1pm the helicopter was again tasked, to a single-vehicle rollover on Whelan Road, Bollier.
The crew was able to land the chopper on the roadside close to the incident.
A woman in her 40s was extricated from the vehicle, which rolled down an embankment, by the Queensland Fire Department.
She was treated by local QAS paramedics, the LifeFlight critical care doctor and QAS flight paramedic for minor injuries.
Both patients were flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in stable condition for further treatment.
