The faces of residents at Ozcare lit up on Friday when members of the Sunshine Butterflies Rhythm and Soul program performed at a concert held during Seniors Week.
Some took to the dance floor when they heard familiar tunes including Frank Sinatra’s Fly Me to the Moon and Elvis Presley’s Blue Suede Shoes.
The concert was the finale in a week of activities which included a Masquerade Ball and ballroom dancing organised for residents.
Ozcare diversional therapist Michelle Cole said the performers not only captivated the residents, they broke down the barriers around disabilities and dementia.
She said Wide Bay had some of the Australia’s highest rates of dementia which were set to more than double by 2058 from 3679 cases to 7645 cases. That means there will
