Plenty happening at Tigerland

We’re getting close to the start of the QAFL season with plenty happening at Tigerland.

A newly formed committee both at senior and junior level, new coaches, new recruits, a new general manager, new helpers, new sponsors, new supporters and a working bee!

These are just the catalyst to signify the start of yet another exciting Aussie rules season for the Rococo Bar Noosa Tigers.

It starts this Saturday when our first official practice matches take place at Weyba Road, Noosaville. The Tigers take on the 2020 QAFL flag winners Morningside in what should be a ripping contest and a baptism of fire into the QAFL (don’t tell our boys it’s just a warm up match). The main game starts at 2pm with Reserves and Colts preceding and our premiership winning Women’s team following the senior game.

Senior coach Adam ‘Bova’ Bovalino is looking forward to the contest.

“Yeah really exciting to test ourselves in a practice match against one of the state’s perennial heavyweights,“ Adam said.

“Our pre-season has been terrific and I could not have asked if more of the boys.

“Aside from the on field stuff I reckon our connection off field has been awesome.

“Our players camp last week at The Shed was one of the best days and nights I’ve ever been involved with.”

When Bova was asked who has stood out over preseason he said, “Buntain has been super and is in terrific shape. I rate him as one of the top defenders in Queensland and I’ll think the Tiger faithful will see this in 2021. Our skipper Laskey of course, he hasn’t put a foot wrong whilst I’ve been super impressed with young Angus Smyth who has dominated match practice thus far. Recruits Aaron Wilson and Ben Fleming have shown why they were so sought after, and Ben Guthrie and Dylan Godwin who have just arrived have also been impressive.“

We’ve had some great turn-outs to junior training as well, plus Auskick is going great guns on a Friday afternoon (over 100 kids).

The junior committee is working hard to get everything organised for what will be another huge junior footy season! Anyone interested in signing up for junior footy this year, we’re still taking registrations. Just head to play.afl/club-finder, type in “Noosaville” and follow the links.

The footy season is back, you little beauty!

President Rob Purves has done a wonderful job working with our fantastic club sponsors and getting the club ready for a huge season on and off the field.

The Tigers committee have also employed a new general manager in Matt McEwan who joins us from Queensland Cricket.

The club also continues to be at the forefront of COVID-19 compliance which will continue this year.

Our President luncheons are returning for six of our home games and we are in the process of locking in Footscray legend Doug Hawkins, Essendon great Terry Daniher, Carlton larrikin Jimmy Buckley and Sunrise sports reporter Mark Beretta. Stay tuned for more info for the 2021 luncheons.

Our media team have been working overtime in providing up to date information through Tiger TV and our Facebook page.

Just search for the Noosa Tigers Facebook page for all you need to know and find out what’s happening in Tigerland.

See you at the footy on Saturday!
