Cooroy Community Bowls
A REVERSAL of last week’s result in the Hinterland Local League occurred with the men playing at Mapleton winning only one game.
Kerry Knowles and Stuart Jeal were successful.
The ladies played Yandina at Yandina going down 2-0. That was the last round for the men.
Wednesday’s Jackpot game winners were Col Nalder, Russell Butler and Kerry Knowles.
That is the second consecutive week for Kerry. Given his winning form in his last three matches a swab will be taken.
Apotukis, Underwaters, Rag and BAS are the top four teams in Thursday night bowls after completing round four.
With plenty of rounds to go these teams cannot take it for granted that they will remain on top.
Some teams have good players returning and this makes for some changes in the ladder.
Next Sunday the first two rounds of the combined open (male and female) singles are on at 9am.
With the event open to any player, picking winners is going to be hard. The format is constructed so that a player has to be beaten twice before being eliminated.
First time bowlers Colleen and Kay enjoyed Friday twilight bowls so much they returned with a friend the next week.
They have improved markedly, becoming quite accurate and consistent.

Tewantin Noosa Bowls Club
Super-challenge: The Silver faced some tuff competition this weekend.
On Saturday the men lost 4/1 to Tweed Heads and the Ladies also lost.
On Sunday the Silver Men lost 4/1 to Tugun, however the Ladies did well and won on aggregate.
The club appreciates the effort of the Silver team for playing a double header and for travelling to the Gold Coast to compete.
The Bronze lost in both the Men’s and Ladies as the Ferny Grove team were too good and the wind made the afternoon interesting.
Tewantin – Noosa: Saturday Open Pairs was won by Steve Chandler and Ron Evans. The runners up were S Burrows and Judith Boakes. The jackpot was not recorded.
John Madill Toyota: Tuesday Ladies fours winners were Evelyn Coghlan, Heather Birt, Van Vignon and Judy Ingram.
The runners up were Peter Hogan, Mary Forbes, Malley Jane and Carolyn Pulham.
Laguna Retirement Resort Men’s Wednesdays Pairs were won by Peter Renwick and Cliff Hackett (+21) Triples winners were Sno Jocelyn, Paul Rieck and Jim McDonald (+27).
The Jackpot $105 was not won and carries over.
Men’s championship pairs saw Glen Whyte and Eric Bolesworth successful in their semi-final and the results of the second semi Howard v Roney are still to come.
Ivory Palms Thursday Open Pairs were won by Steve Chandler and Jennie Smith.
The runners-up were Pauline Sweeney and Kerry Wilson. The Jackpot of $300 was not won and carries over.
Twilight Open Pairs winners were Simon Wood and Steve Bowie. The runners up were Mary Ross and Robyn McAnelly.
Noosa Landscape Supplies Friendly Friday Triples winners were visitor David Carrett, Fabio Cantori and visitor Graham Sheldon.
The runners-up were Ellen Elliott, Trish Allsop and Neal Elliott. The Jackpot of $27 was not won and carries over.
Revolution Pairs are to be played on Monday 7 March at 10am.

Pomona Bowls Report
Division president Veronis O’Connor held her at home event on Wednesday 17 February.
There was plenty of action on the green and the club extends a big thank you to all the Division Clubs for supporting the day.
Winners are grinners and the Pomona team of Jill Mita, Sheena Millar, Gail Alford and skip Jocelyn Rabjohns took out the prize.
Friday Twilight Bowls is continuing to attract plenty of keen bowlers.
Winners were Cheryl O’Connor and Rick Goulding with runners up Ann Carruthers and Charlie Dewhirst.
Saturday’s Hinterland League had mixed results.
Pomona ladies played against Woombye winning both the pairs game (Veronis and Fay) and the Triples (Elizabeth, Gaye and Jocelyn).
While the triples had a convincing win the pairs was a nail biter coming right down to the last end when our ladies prevailed for a win +1. Three match points to Pomona Ladies – well done!
The Men’s team played against Yandina which was too strong for the lads who went down 75 to 92.
The only team win was the triples of Glenn Johnson, Walter Horn and Mel Hobbins who had a comfortable W+10.
Only one game point this week but still hopeful to play in the semi-finals round.
Men’s A Championships saw Glenn Johnson defeat Dan Atherton, Greg Hodder defeat Bob Andrews, Bill Alford defeat Jim O’Donnell and in a very closely contested game Walter Horn defeated Mel Hobbins.
In the semi-finals, Bill Alford plays Greg Hodder and Walter Horn plays Glen Patterson.
