Short films in focus

CALLING all budding directors! Submissions for Noosa’s very own International Film Festival are now open.
Noosa will play host to local, national and international film-makers when it stages Australia’s newest film festival in November.
The Noosa International Film Festival (NIFF) will provide a forum for films of all genres and will be brought together from the four corners of the globe by a panel of cinema experts and presented to a local and Australia-wide audience of discerning film-lovers at select venues throughout the Noosa region.
Among the highlights of the festival will be a series of short film competitions, workshops, masterclasses and Q&A forums offering a unique opportunity for would-be film-makers to learn about, and become involved in, the craft of making films.
In all, there will be three short film competitions being promoted as part of the program: the NIFF Open category (open to anyone, from anywhere of any genre); the Ecoflicks Open category (open to all-comers); and an Ecoflicks Youth category, aimed at youth in and around Noosa.
The Noosa International Film Festival is accepting submissions exclusively via global film festival platform, FilmFreeway with official selections being screened publicly at various cinema venues.
A film-making workshop will take place to support participants entering the Ecoflicks competition. The two-day workshop open to secondary and tertiary students and aspiring adult film-makers alike, will be held at the Central Queensland University in Goodchap Street, Noosaville, on Tuesday 5 and Thursday 7 April for a cost of $40.
The festival will run from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 November and will, among a host of other cinematic highlights, showcase new release films, with at least one of these films being screened in Australia for the first time.
