As an accredited international school, Sunshine Beach State School enrols students from all parts of the world, be it for one week or one year. This year 16 students came across from China so what better excuse for a celebration – Chinese New Year!
Lanterns and decorations set the scene for a special assembly where Principal Jenny Easey welcomed the Chinese students and families who joined the school community for the first term. The Year of the Dog was welcomed with a whole school presentation to explain Chinese New Year celebrations and traditions and students continued the experience in the library by making lanterns and learning about the animal in the Chinese zodiac that represents their year of birth.
