Little Seed, big harvest

By Hollie Harris

Little Seed Theatre Company in Sunshine Beach has enjoyed some well-deserved accolades recently, taking a very special win in The Anywhere Awards.
These are based on audience nomination numbers and comments. Audiences nominated a show, and had the option to state why they felt it should be nominated for an Anywhere Award.
Alex McTavish and Pau Osuch then looked through the reasons for nomination and took into account the entries per show.
They took into account the audience capacity for the show because an event with a capacity of 20 and less nominations can be just as amazing as one with more votes because it has a capacity of 200.
There is no “Best” production, script, direction, up and coming, actor in a comedic role, or bodice in a period drama etal. Instead, each award is for the entire experience – the impact on audiences, the artistic risks and the realised ambition of everyone who created these wonderful experiences – an enthralling story in a location that people can experience no other way.
The winners of The Anywhere Awards were announced earlier this week. Within this open aged competition Little Seed’s was one of 700 performances throughout Queensland, and was one of 11 equally placed winners, the cast aged between 13 and 17 years.
Little Seed Theatre Company was created to grow stories and people. It is a company where ideas, inspiration and the individual are believed in. It exists to provide young people from the ages of 4-18 with a space to explore their creativity and make theatre.
You can find them at Bicentennial Community Centre, 2 Bicentennial Drive, Sunshine Beach or read about their performances online at www.little-seed.com.au
