PRE-POLLING is underway but Labor candidate Lucy Stanton is crying foul, accusing Liberal National candidate Llew O’Brien of dirty polling booth tactics.
Wide Bay Labor candidate Lucy Stanton said a number of signs displayed at the Christian Outreach Church (COC) polling booth on Friday (1 July) were “disgusting”.
“(The signs) are disgusting,” she said. “It must mean we’re getting to them.”
The signs carry anti-Labor messages such as “No plan for the economy or jobs, just Labor lies” with a picture of party leader, Bill Shorten.
Mr O’Brien said all the signs were authorised and complied with regulations.
“If there are any problems, I’d encourage (Ms Stanton) to take it up with the returning officer,” he said.
“I have certainly not been approached in regards to the signs.”
The official Election Day isn’t until Saturday (2 July), but the pre-polling booths at COC are already busy, with long lines and wait times.
