PAST, present and future students of the C and K Tewantin Community Kindergarten gathered at the centre for the kindy’s 50th birthday celebrations on Saturday 29 August.
Member for Wide Bay and Deputy Prime Minister Warren Truss, along with Noosa councillors Frank Pardon and Frank Wilkie were among the crowd who gathered to celebrate the building’s history.
Since opening in 1965, more than 3000 students have enjoyed the peaceful surrounds of the community kindy, which used to be the Tinbeerwah State School building.
Bought for 146 pounds, the building was transported to where it stands today on Doonella Street in Tewantin.
In 1969 the kindy became affiliated with the Creche and Kindergarten Association (C and K) and has since had many extensions to create a much-loved kindy today.
