Fusion is a festival of fun

THE Cooroy Fusion Festival is set to kick off for the sixth year running and is said to be even bigger and better than before.
The festival, which started as a celebration for the opening of the Cooroy Library in 2010, has certainly come a long way in the six years it has been running and now attracts more than 10,000 people each year.
Cooroy Chamber of Commerce President Danielle Taylor said the key to the success of the festival is that it taps into what is great about the Noosa Hinterland.
“We are so lucky to live in a wonderful spot with natural beauty, great local food, talented artists and performers, loads of culture and heritage, fantastic local shopping and overwhelming community spirit,” she said.
“Cooroy Fusion Festival is a fusion of all of the things that make Cooroy and Noosa so special.
“It sounds like a cliché but it really does have something for everyone plus it is just a really fun event.
“Everything is free so it is one of those truly magical community events that people flock to.”
Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead because the Cooroy Fusion Festival program is jam packed for a fun family day out.
The Bendigo Bank Entertainment Tent is packed full of top shelf entertainment with comedy, lots of music, Welcome to Country and even the Greenwood Grove Geckoes Wildlife Experience.
There are also roving entertainers and static entertainers dotted throughout the Mill Place precinct to add even more flavour to the day.
There are lots of activities for the kids from story time sessions to a Lego lounge in the library to some awesome rides including mini jeeps and a jumping castle plus an awesome inflatable obstacle course for all ages.
Supa IGA Cooroy has a local food tasting stall and this year there will be more than 90 stalls on display with food, beverages, artists, market stalls, community groups and businesses.
There are loads of demonstrations from chain saw carving to post and rail fencing and body art from some of the best artists in Queensland.
There is a full program in the library with everything from robots to a local author book fair.
The Butter Factory Arts Centre including workshops to make stars that are part of an international peace project that will be a huge installation at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
The event runs in conjunction with the annual Noosa District Orchid and Foliage Society Show in the CWA hall and the Cooroora Woodworkers Show in its clubhouse.
