Rum City: country meets the coast

By TONY FROST

RUM City masters swim club hosted their annual swim meet on Saturday, 21 June. A real ‘country meets the coast’ atmosphere throughout the day, where four Noosa swimmers did their club proud. Wendy Ivanusec, Brian Hoepper, John Hordyk and Nic Pirie swam brilliantly to be shield winners for small clubs (3-6) category.
Individual age group results: Male: 25-29 years, 1st place, Nic, 65-69 years, 1st place, Brian,
2nd place, John. Female: 70-74 years: 4th place, Wendy.
Thanks to the support members who contributed to the carnival’s success: Viv Merrill (referee),
Lesley Hordyk, Geoff Merrill, and Ivan Ivanusec (timekeepers).
Host club ended up the day as overall winners, while not to be outdone by those in the pool,
Ivan cleaned up in the BUNDABERG RUM competition, throwing a coin closest (twice) to a treasured sample of the the local brew.
