Now that’s a send-off

A POPULAR Noosa Springs couple turned their annual farewell party into a fund-raiser for a significant international health program last Sunday.
Clive and Dawn Hesketh in association with Rotary Noosa Daybreak hosted the charity day, with all proceeds going to the End Polio Now program.
Over $6000 was raised for this great cause.
End Polio Now is an initiative of Rotary International.
A Sunshine Coast local, Sir Clem Renouf, rose to become president of Rotary International in 1978, and in that year was inspired to bring all Rotarians together to fight polio. Rotary joined forces with world health organisations in pursuit of the ambitious goal to rid the world of polio. With a 99 percent reduction in the incidence of polio since the program was launched, that goal is now in sight.
In more recent times, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has become a major donor, and will match two-for-one, all donations from Rotary to the program until 2018.
Donations to the program can be made on www.endpolio.org
