A dip to beat heat

By JONATHON HOWARD

SCORCHING temperatures across Noosa last week prompted residents to run for cover in air-conditioned shopping centres. Although cooler temperatures returned this week, summer is fast approaching.
To find out how locals cope with the heat, Noosa Today hit the streets to ask: “what are some ways you can cool down without breaking the bank with air-conditioning?”
Peter and Hannah Bycroft said they often escape the heat with a cool drink and a dip in the Noosa River.
“Apart from that we just sit through it and suffer,” Mrs Bycroft said.
Jenet Davis said it was too expensive to run the air-con all day.
“Instead we find a big mango tree, setup our easy chairs with some cool drinks and put some music on,” she said.
Tracey Davis said Noosa’s beautiful beaches were the best way to beat the heat.
“Hit the beach and get under a gazebo with some cool drinks,” she said.
