Golden years in print

By JOLENE OGLE

MORE than 100 people packed the Environment Centre in Wallace Park on Wednesday night to celebrate the launch of a book to commemorate 50 years of the Noosa Parks Association.
Titled “Noosa and Cooloola – celebrating 50 years of Noosa Parks Association” and written by Councillor Tony Wellington, the book recounts the battles, struggles and victories of the Noosa Parks Association since its inception in the 1960s.
Mayor Noel Playford launched the book, detailing stories of the NPA’s history through his own experiences.
The coffee table book also features full colour photographs, capturing the region’s landscape, flora and fauna, alongside the recount of how local residents worked to rescue Noosa and Cooloola from mining, logging and unfettered development.
