Star employee up ladder

By JONATHON HOWARD

SURRENDER Dorothy senior stylist Karina Iverson has shared her secrets to success after she was named Employee of the Year during the annual Sunshine Coast Business Awards.
Ms Iverson, 28, was awarded the distinguished title last month and she’s since been made a manager.
She says one of the most important parts about any job was enjoying your role and embracing your clients.
“It’s important for me to feel like my position is more than just a job, it’s an adventure everyday and I look forward to getting to work,” she said.
Ms Iverson has been a hair stylist for the past 10 years and has worked at Surrender Dorothy on Gympie Terrace for the past 15 months.
She was nominated by her manager and Surrender Dorothy owner Louise Starr, who has since promoted her star employee to manager.
“Karina is a very dedicated and passionate hair stylist, who is highly regarded by our clients and was very deserving of this recognition,” Ms Starr said.
Ms Iverson said her secrets to success were simple.
“A good stylist will always be a good listener and understand the needs of each individual client,” she said.
“It’s not enough to just turn up to work each day, you have to have the drive and motivation to succeed and meet each client’s needs.”
Ms Iverson said she wanted to thank her manager, Louise, and the strong team around her.
“We have an awesome team of dedicated staff, and I would really like to thank Louise for being a passionate teacher and mentor,” Ms Iverson said.
To find out more about Surrender Dorothy, visit the salon at 7/239 Gympie Terrace or phone (07) 5449 9811.
