THE Christmas spirit has arrived at Hastings Street as one of the most popular beach precincts in the country turned on its Christmas lights last week.
Dozens of onlookers watched as santa switched on the lights about 6pm on Friday 28 November.
Santa then made a quick visit to hand out pre-Christmas gifts as carollers helped fill the air with Christmas sounds.
The new lights display a dazzling array of colours which complement the busy beach-side street.
The main roundabout on Hastings Street was the biggest attraction and the street was temporarily closed to traffic from 5.30pm.
