Members of the QCWA Tewantin branch united last week to show their support for “Orange the World” an international initiative seeking to promote positive action towards ending gender-based violence. The event occurs between the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November and Human Rights Day on 10 December.
QCWA Tewantin international officer June Lynn said by serving orange food, using orange crockery and dressing in orange, the ladies showed their support for the cause.
“QCWA Tewantin is so much more than cooking and craft” she said.
“We support women and communities locally, nationally and around the world. The Associated Country Women of the World stands up against all forms of violence against women and encourages individuals, communities, nation states and international bodies to raise awareness of this crucial issue.”
