Retired couples’ halcyon days

Happily retired couple Ken Day and Sylvia Lewis have packed up their lives on the Gold Coast and upsized their home to enjoy Halcyon days on the Sunshine Coast, whilst pocketing a handy capital gain on the way.
Converts to the Halcyon lifestyle, the couple sold their waterfront home in the five-star over 50s lifestyle community, Vision by Halcyon, to enjoy the state-of-the-art bowling facilities at Halcyon Lakeside on the Sunshine Coast.
“We really like the Halcyon brand and the community spirit and lifestyle offering that comes with buying a home at Halcyon,” Ms Lewis said.
“We’ve met so many people and made lifelong friendships at Vision and we are so excited to do it all over again at Lakeside.
“It’s the right time for us to move on. We purchased our home at Vision primarily for the boating aspect and, as time went on, we found that we weren’t using the boat very often and our lawn bowling hobby became a more enjoyable pastime.”
The move to Halcyon Lakeside has come with an added bonus for the couple who achieved a handsome capital gain from the sale of their Vision by Halcyon home.
“Moving to Lakeside worked out great for us financially and we are looking forward to settling into our new lifestyle in this vibrant community,” Mr Day said.
“We’ve now got a larger home and were also able to put some money in the bank for holidays.
“At our age, we need to make sure our investment is safe and Halcyon offers the whole package – the lifestyle aspect and the financial freedom.”
