Riverfest not to be missed

The sun was shining, the lines were tight and the banks of the Noosa River were teaming with families and fishermen for the 18th Noosa Riverfest Regatta and Boatshow, last weekend.
The Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club (NYRC) played host for the three day event that saw hundreds of locals and visitors make their way to the shore to watch the regatta, ferry race and the fishing competition’s complete with live aquarium.
Sailing manager Paul Blundell said the event was a great initiative for the community with a huge effort made by NYRC and Davo’s Tackle World to ensure a great weekend was had by all.
“The weather was kind to us on the weekend as most of Noosa turned out to see all that was happening,” he said.
Paul said the Noosa Riverfest was not to be missed with rowing races, sailing regattas, food stalls, kids fishing clinics and games on offer plus a huge contingent of fishermen both young and old.
Winners on the day included Grant Evans who won the senior sailing regatta in ‘Exile’, a Blazer 23 and Caitlin Piepke who took out the juniors with her Sabot, ‘Small Fry’.
There was also plenty of action with the River to Reef Fishing Classic and some great prize fish being caught in all species categories.
“The huge viewing tank was a winner with everyone getting a close-up of the various species in the tag and release competition,” Paul said.
“Don’t miss out on Riverfest next year!”
