Runway take-off for male model

By JOLENE OGLE

Designer clothes, photo shoots and runway shows are all in a day’s work for local model Mitch Wynne who is making strides in the Sydney fashion scene.
Mitch, 21, grew up in the quiet community of Town of Seaside, Marcoola, with his mum, dad and two brothers.
“Growing up on the Sunshine Coast was great. I highly recommend it,” he said.
“There was always a great community feel and who wouldn’t love living so close to some of the world’s best beaches.”
Mitch’s entry into the modelling world was never planned but after a “few people mentioned I should model”, he decided to “give it a go”.
Not long after, Mitch followed his dreams and made the move to Sydney after signing with national modelling agency Chadwick, who also manages the likes of international model Jessica Hart and TV and radio personality Jackie O.
“I’ve always loved the idea of living in a big city and it’s great that I get to experience it while working in a fun industry,” Mitch said.
While the transition from quiet coastal town to the vibrant city was a big change, Mitch has taken to the challenge like a model to the runway.
“The thing I love about Sydney is that everything is so convenient – public transport is a level above,” he said.
“The downside of living away is that all my family lives back in Queensland. It took a while to get use to but I’ve settled in nicely. It helps only being a short flight away so that I can visit home whenever I get the chance.”
But missing his family hasn’t put a dampener on Mitch’s career, which he said is a dream come true.
“It is a very exciting industry and I can hardly call it work. It’s always fun being on a shoot,” he said.
“You always get looked after really well. Also, the industry comes with its perks like exclusive parties and events.”
Mitch recalled his first major runway show modelling for Ermengildo Zegna, an exclusive Italian menswear company.
“The event was amazing,” he said.
“There were about 60 male models with an exclusive after-party where the Temper Trap played and many celebrities attended including Chris Hemsworth and Megan Gale, who are brand ambassadors.”
Photo shoots for brands such as Rebel Sport, David Jones, Cosmopolitan magazine and bridal magazines, as well as runway shows for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and Gucci, are also part of Mitch’s portfolio and the future looks packed full of many more exciting jobs.
“The industry can lead to many exciting experiences including worldwide travel and I hope to experience this in the future,” Mitch said.
