Get out and about this weekend

There is always so much to do in Noosa Shire. This weekend, there are a few things to check out that you might have missed. Try getting out among the community and sharing the fun together with one of these fantastic free community events.

1. Queensland Day
When: Saturday 10 June
Where: Noosa Library, Wallace Park, Wallace Drive, Noosaville
Price: Free
Behind Queensland’s Words is a special program designed to promote Queensland’s rich literary culture and raise awareness of Queensland Day through a Writers Festival, showcasing Queensland’s high-profile and popular authors. It also includes a Pop-up Book shop which provides our community with the opportunity to engage with other local, inspiring writers and leading industry professionals from Queensland.
Noosa Library Service will also highlight Queensland Day through Queensland-themed informational displays, storytelling events and staff dress-ups.

2. Noosa Come Together
When: Sunday 11 June
Where: Noosaville Lions Park, Gympie Terrace, Noosaville
Price: Free entry
Noosa Come Together is a family-friendly event with live music, silent auction, international food court, sailing, kids rides, cooking classes and more, raising money to support sporting activities for children with disabilities.
The festival includes the finals of the Regional Busking Championships to decide who will attend the Australian Busking Championships.
Noosa Come Together is a fund-raiser for sporting activities for Sunshine Coast children with a disability, including Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club’s Sailability program, Riding for the Disabled and Disabled Surfers Association.

3. Australian National Busking Championships
When: Saturday and Sunday, 10-11 June
Where: Gympie Terrace, Noosaville
Time: Saturday 9am-5pm; Sunday afternoon
Price: Free
See musicians performing in the Australian National Busking Championships regional finals, being held in Noosa for the first time.
Busking heats will be held along Gympie Terrace, Noosaville, near the Noosa River foreshore on Saturday 10 June from 9am to 5pm. The finals concert will be held as part of the Noosa Come Together Festival on the River Stage on Sunday 11 June.
Musicians including solo performers, choirs, ensembles, junior and senior school groups and others will perform at selected sites along the Noosa River in 20-minute spots. There will also be international food, kids entertainment, water activities, dancing and more street fun.
Roaming judges and people’s choice busker dollars will be used to determine three finalists who will perform at the Noosa Come Together Festival.
The Noosa Busking Championships are part of a nationwide cultural celebration of music and street performance with five regional competitions around Australian in 2017.
All profits will be distributed to local disability charities including the Noosa Yacht and Rowing Club’s Sailability program.
