Thousands of locals and visitors flocked to the hinterland town of Cooroy on Saturday to enjoy the annual Christmas in Cooroy festival and watch its Christmas parade.
Cooroy Chamber of Commerce president Danielle Taylor said the town’s population of about 4000 doubled, as friends and tourists came to view a parade which has generally become a rare event.
She said wet weather had reduced numbers this year compared to 2016 which drew a crowd of about 12,000 but they were lucky the rain held off during the parade and many onlookers braved the conditions.
