Noosa’s swimming prowess was well represented at the recent World Masters’ Games in Auckland, New Zealand.
Thirteen Noosa Masters Swimming Club members competed in the spectacular new AUT Millennium National Aquatic Centre, and at Takapuna Beach.
These senior athletes broke records and brought home a swag of medals.
The Open Water swimmers confronted the risk of hypothermia to comply with FINA regulations of ‘no wetsuits allowed’ – to swim 2.5kms in cold – but calm and sunny – conditions.
Now their sights are set on the next World Masters Games, to be held in Kensai, Japan in 2021.
