Christmas elves hard at work

ONCE upon a time, in a lovely little town called Cooroy, there was a wonderful group of Christmas elves who worked for months and months every year to put together a magical community celebration called Christmas in Cooroy.
The much-loved community event, Christmas in Cooroy, is back for another year with a massive program of free events planned for this year.
One of the highlights is the Bendigo Bank Street Parade and the theme this year is Fairy Tales and Legends.
The organising committee has been hard at work over the last few months but this week had a bit of fun testing out some costume ideas.
Event manager Danielle Taylor said the Bendigo Bank Street Parade was a big drawcard for the event with around 30 floats decorated in all sorts of imaginative ways.
“There are always lots of giveaways and lollies handed out into the crowds, and people of all ages are just amazed at how great the floats look,” she said.
“Christmas in Cooroy is such an amazing event and so much goes into organising it, we couldn’t afford to do it without sponsors like Cooroy Community Bank Branch.”
Cooroy Community Bank branch manager Geoff Edwards said the bank was always pleased to be involved with the event as “it’s so much fun”.
“But the reason we continue to be major sponsors is that it gives so much benefit for the community,” he said.
“It is a showcase of great community spirit with everyone working together to produce something quite special,” he said.
Christmas in Cooroy is on Saturday 5 December from 4pm and you can get the full program and all the information at www.christmasincooroy.com.au.
If you’d like to be in the Bendigo Bank Street Parade, entry forms are also available on the website.
Entry is free for community groups and $30 for businesses.
