Swap till you drop

NOT everything can be recycled, but that doesn’t mean it has to go into the bin.
Landfill waste can be drastically reduced by re-using or sharing products, rather than buying new ones.
By re-using or sharing a product instead of buying a new one, we reduce the consumption of water, energy, fuel and valuable natural resources, plus reduce waste and greenhouse gas emissions.
There are many ways to donate, trade or exchange pre-loved items.
Buying from or donating to a charity ‘op shop’ not only helps the environment, it also helps your wallet and a local organisation in need.
Swap parties are also a great way to boost the wardrobe, while clearing out anything you no longer wear.
Swap parties are simple – if you are hosting the event, everyone brings their pre-loved clothing to your home and then you can share and swap clothes from the selection.
It’s a great chance to get your hands on that dress or those shoes you have always wanted to borrow from your friend.
Online trade and exchange forums are also full of bargains and can help reduce landfill by selling old furniture or clothing.
