Good news for surf fest finals

By Hollie Harris

There has been great surf over the last week across the coast and some world-class waves rolling through Noosa points just in time for the start of the festival.
A little messy over the last couple of days, especially on the opens due to a cross-shore breeze and slow swells as the South-facing beaches in northern NSW copped all the size.
The southerly swell direction has limited wave height but it is due to swing around anti-clockwise which should bring more size over the next couple of days.
South swell magnets will be biggest but wind affected.
Large swell is predicted for south of the border over the next couple of days with some pretty intense conditions predicted and a lot of water moving around, so take an extra leggie if you’re planning a roadtrip and get ready to paddle!
With the Quicksilver and Roxy Pro kicking off early next week down at the Gold Coast, it will be interesting to see if the banks can hold up from getting washed away.
There should be some nice waves across Noosa easing from 4ft to 2ft-3ft Saturday, then down to 1ft or 2ft Sunday, so good news for the finals of the surf fest and those able to get to Noosa for a paddle.
Overall, it has been a super fun week of waves up here but the pick of the weekend will be to head south as far as possible.
