IT WAS that time of the year once again when the Queensland Indoor Rowing Championships took place.
Hot footed from winning the Queensland and Australian titles, followed by the Pan Pacific titles in 2014 and 2015, Noosa’s combat self-defence and karate black belt Andy Meek has raised the bar and done it again retaining his Queensland titles for the third year in a row.
Mr Meek competed in the Heavyweight Division in the 50 to 54 age group and smashed the 500 metres, 1000 metres and the one-minute sprint challenge which was open to all age groups.
Mr Meek kept a strong lead as he took out first place in the one-minute sprint by a seven-metre lead.
Mr Meek said his success was due to his martial arts, mindset and bodyweight conditioning training.
The next competition sees Mr Meek hoping to retain his Australian and Pan Pacific titles later this year.
