Three survive horror smash

Police are investigating a serious traffic crash in Cooroy yesterday.
Preliminary investigations suggest that about 6.20pm a car was driving westbound along Lake Macdonald Drive when the driver lost control.
The vehicle left the road and collided with a tree.
The 18-year-old male driver and a 20-year-old male passenger both sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and were transported to the Nambour General Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
A 16-year-old female passenger sustained minor facial injuries.
Officer in Charge of Cooroy Police Station Sergeant Mal Scott said it was a miracle that all three people escaped the crash alive.
“The vehicle was completely ruined on impact.
“When there is this level of destruction in a traffic crash you often fear the worst,” Sergeant Scott said.
“The occupants were initially trapped in the wreckage but somehow managed to crawl out of the vehicle.”
Sergeant Scott said the crash could have easily been fatal.
“This is a timely reminder to take care on the roads, don’t speed, don’t drink or take drugs and drive, don’t drive tired, wear your seatbelt, pay attention to the way you are driving and don’t become distracted and obey the road rules.
“Road safety is everyone’s responsibility,” Sergeant Scott said.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au.
