Funny Girl is coming to Noosa Arts Theatre between 22 April to 5 May next year.

The 2018 production of Funny Girl is going to set the Noosa Arts Theatre stage on fire.
The “Funny Girl“ information night is on Tuesday 21 November, at 7pm, and all are welcome.
This exhilarating musical celebrates the exuberant and elegant flavour of Broadway in the 1910s and ’20s and features famous Ziegfeld Follies production numbers.
Funny Girl tells the real life story of beloved singer, actress and comedienne Fanny Brice’s rise from Brooklyn music hall singer to Broadway star, and her tempestuous relationship with gambler Nicky Arnstein.
A triumphant story of starry success, coupled with a bittersweet story of love. Funny Girl is a musical theatre classic with a sensational score filled with show stoppers including I’m the Greatest Star, People and Don’t Rain on my Parade.
Funny Girl opened on Broadway in 1964 starring Barbra Streisand in the role of Fanny Brice, and ran for a total of 1348 performances.
A revival production of Funny Girl opened on London’s West End in 2017 to great critical acclaim starring Sheridan Smith. Thereafter toured extensively throughout the UK. Since opening, Funny Girl has won all the theatrical awards for Best 2017 Musical; best, sets, costumes and direction; and Best Actress in a Musical – Sheridan Smith.
This will be the first time a production of Funny Girl has been performed on the Sunshine Coast. A large and varied cast will be assembled to present the Noosa Arts Theatre Production.
Noosa Arts Theatre are seeking both male and females aged from 18 to 70 years of age, for acting/singing/dancing lead and ensemble/chorus roles.
Seasoned performers, together with those new to the stage are encouraged to audition.
There are a number of significant smaller character roles for adults 25-70 years (both acting and singing) together with some showcase roles for younger male/female adults, 18-30 years to play Ziegfeld Follies singers/ dancers.
Auditions will be held at Noosa Art Theatre for all roles. Principal and selected support roles auditions will be closed auditions on Thursday 30 November, from 6pm. An audition time must be booked and confirmed. Call Margaret on 5470 2510 to confirm audition time.
