Appeal asks $500m question

THE developer behind the controversial Lake Weyba development proposal has lodged an appeal in the Planning and Environment Court.
The appeal seeks for the approval of the $500 million residential development, which was rejected by both Noosa and Sunshine Coast councils.
The developer, Northbrook Corporation, also seeks compensation for legal costs.
The grounds of appeal state the development application does not conflict with the “desired environmental outcomes of the South East Queensland Regional Plan”, is not inconsistent with koala conservation regulations, or the Noosa Plan, as was stated by Noosa Council when the development was rejected.
