WHILE most students relaxed these school holidays, a committed group of St Andrew’s Anglican College students headed out bush.
The students – Seamus Cunningham, Codi Baker-Lahey, Lawson Wrigley, Jake Galczynski and Brianna Maltman – camped in the Cooloola wilderness for three nights to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Award at the Gold Level.
The trip involved kayaking, hiking and developing skills they will need when they paddle the Great Sandy Strait and camp on Fraser Island in September.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award is available to all 14 to 25-year-olds and can be achieved by completing challenging levels in four sections of service, skill, physical recreation and adventurous journey.
The Duke’s Award helps set the students up with important life skills.
