NOOSA played host to some of Australia’s top backpacker travel agents last week as part of an incentive familiarisation organised by Tourism Noosa.
Tourism Noosa CEO Damien Massingham said six of the top travel agents from Website Travel, one of Australia’s biggest online and retail adventure backpacking travel agencies in Australia enjoyed a famil showcasing some of Noosa’s best locations.
“The agents were selected from Website Travel’s 630 agencies throughout Australia and New Zealand with one winner selected from each of their regions,” Mr Massingham said.
“They were chosen on their increase in Noosa product sales for an eight-week period during April and May of this year. The winners were then invited to take a tour of the region for three days and attend the Adventure Queensland Annual ball.”
Mr Massingham said the backpacker market was an important market for Noosa with their estimated spend valued at over $30 million.
“The famil was a great opportunity to showcase our product throughout Noosa and the wider region including Fraser Island,” he said.
“There were 10 operators involved in the famil including Ocean Breeze Resort, Australia Zoo, Air Fraser, Kanu Kapers, Halse Lodge, Nomads Noosa, Epic Ocean Adventures, Noosa Learn to Surf, Noosa Ferry Cruise Company and Visit Oz.”
One Stop Adventures managing director Paul Bryne was part of the famil and said he loved sending clients to Noosa because it had everything from great surf, beautiful beaches and national parks plus a range of awesome activities for the youth adventure travel market to take advantage of.
“We find that Noosa is an essential part of any East Coast package that we help our clients prepare,” he said.
“Most importantly we find our travellers really enjoy the laid back atmosphere and beachside way of life.”
