RSL rallied to battle

By JOLENE OGLE

Tewantin Noosa RSL staff member Rachel Jarvis has never hesitated to help those in need but now her friends are calling on the community to help Rachel as she battles a mysterious disease.
Two weeks ago, Rachel was rushed to hospital where she was underwent emergency surgery for a serious throat infection.
Following the surgery, Rachel developed complications and was transferred to the Royal Brisbane Hospital where she endured several operations and was put into an induced coma.
Doctors said they can’t be sure what caused the infection, and while Rachel is now awake, she has a long road ahead as her body fights to recover from the infection.
Rachel, a mother of six, has always been keen to help those around her.
After shaving her head to help raise funds for cancer research, Rachel joined fellow Tewantin Noosa RSL staffer Lynn McClelland earlier this year to walk the Kokoda Trail and help raise funds for the Mate 4 Mates foundation.
To help Rachel fight the infection and make a speedy recovery, the Tewantin Noosa RSL is holding a fundraising trivia night on 12 October from 7pm in the Bistro, and everyone is welcome to come along.
Entry to the trivia night is $10 per person and there will be raffles, giveaways and a night of fun to help raise funds for Rachel’s recovery.
To book a table, phone the Tewantin Noosa RSL on 5447 1766.
