The sounds of real life love

By Hollie Harris

LAUNCHING their new album ‘After The Rain’, Hat Fitz and Cara at The J, Noosa promises to be a fabulous night of quality music, stories and laughter.
Hat Fitz and Cara will be joined on stage by the many wonderful voices of Brisbane’s fantastic Asabi Goodman and her ‘Goodmen’, the sweet voices of Sunshine Coast choirs ‘InsingC’ and ‘A’Choired Taste’. Yes, three choirs coming together for the first time as the voices behind Hat Fitz and Cara’s fourth album launch.
In no way can these two be mistaken for a dainty duo. A unique combination of hill-style Gospel blues with old-timey flavourings and stripped down to just voices, guitar and vintage drums, Hat Fitz and Cara embellish impeccable rootsy originals with soulful vocals reminiscent of a time once forgotten.
They will share some personal stories from on the road as a married couple that will have you in tears of laughter and reminiscing through their music.
‘Doing it Again’ was born from one of those heat of the moments which couples find themselves in from time to time. When your musical partner is also your romantic partner, sometimes art can imitate life and sometimes, if you’re lucky, you can get a ripper song out of a little frustration.
‘Harsh words are fired back and forth travelling over old ground until someone tires and the other relents. So to make up he grabs the mandolin and decides to serenade me as I’m eloquently in mid-huff,” Cara said.
“As I’m being serenaded the words and melody for Doing it Again came pouring out.
“There is no second guessing when the moment is captured and the fire is rekindled in such a momentous way that is from a place of love,” she said.
This will be a unique night of Blues/Folk and raw deep South Gospel singing behind the newly released album “After The Rain” so grab your tickets from www.thej.com.au for Friday 3 February at 7.30pm.
