A word from the president Doug Toms

Thank you to everyone on the Dragons Family who made our home games at Eumundi yesterday such a huge success. From marking and setting up the fields on Thursday and Friday afternoons as well as early Saturday morning to the final clean up on Saturday arvo.

Because of all the volunteer’s hard work behind the scenes we were able to host a fantastic day of rugby with all of our young Dragons enjoying exciting matches. Our kids are really developing into quite skilled Rugby players!! The highlight for me was the sheer joy demonstrated by young Jasper Bianchi after he scored his first try in his U8s match and Jasper’s incredible act of sportsmanship to an opposition player who had been tackled.

Makes all of our club efforts so worthwhile.

Huge thanks too to our wonderful adults and young supporters who helped out in the canteen or selling cakes or raffle tickets a truly great effort by all and one that shows what a wonderful Dragons family we truly are.

U9s vs. St. Andrews: BY Coach Bryan Eaton

The U9’s played a hard fought battle against St. Andrews at the Eumundi Showgrounds on Saturday. After giving up some easy points in the first half of play, the Dragons responded full heartedly in the second. Craig Yaxley was a powerhouse with the ball and even more intimidating on defence recording the most tackles. His tackling form (hips and below) was perfect, effective and most importantly safe which lead to him to receiving the player of the match. This technique is the Dragon’s way of playing, tough but showing respect for the safety of the opposing team. Jett Herbert continued his dominance with the ball as did the rest of the team. The U9’s executed team play and proper positioning in the second half and began to look like a well balance team. Continual weekly improvement, safe play and great attitudes have made this team a pleasure to be apart of. Keep up the good work gentlemen and remember to play hard but play fair, safe and respectable. Everyone is proud of you for your efforts and you should be proud of yourselves. Go Dragons!!
