Fashion destination for past decade

When did the Sunshine Coast become a fashion destination for international labels?
Ed Hardy was the first to showcase at the inaugural Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival in 2008 and then again in 2009 before the label ceased operation. They were the hot label of the time. A true coup for a brand new regional event.
Ali Charisma, who showcases at Couture Fashion Weeks around the globe was next in 2012 and returns to celebrate the event’s 10th anniversary in 2017.
Sunflair followed suit, with catwalk shows in 2013. This will mark their fifth year.
The most widely sold swim brand in the world and they have been exclusive to the Sunshine Coast International Fashion Festival with a true loyalty the whole time.
TaPa, under the design of Tanya Pandey, who had designed for Tommy Hilfiger, was next.
High end swim label, Opera, joined the event next in 2014 and will show for their fourth year in 2017.
Sunman, the male counterpart of Sunflair, came along in 2014.
Then swim brand Million Dollar Mermaid made a splash, along with Ready to Wear Kur Collection and award-winning Robert Kennedy.
Thang de Hoo (couturier to the likes of Angelina Jolie and Miranda Kerr) held his exclusive Australian launch of Ready to Wear evening label Rivivi 6269 at the event in 2016.
The Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival will be held at The Events Centre, Caloundra on 21 October.
