Friendly face of change

LOCAL artist Lin Nolan is hoping to turn her artwork into assistance when she offers 12 portraits for sale to raise funds for World Vision’s refugee appeal.
The Let’s Face It collection of acrylic on canvas paintings feature the faces of refugee children and will be displayed at a pop-up exhibition at The J, Noosa Heads, on Thursday 19 November, from 6pm-8pm.
Lin, who has been painting for over 30 years, has been involved in previous World Vision fund-raising activities and said she was spurred into action when she learnt over four million Syrian refugees are “on the road” and a further seven million are displaced within Syria.
Lin said realising more than half of the refugees were children gave rise to her “small endeavour”.
“We choose to support World Vision’s efforts to help those children in need as it is incomprehensible for most of us living in Australia to imagine the hardship these people are enduring,” she said.
“World Vision is very professional and provides comprehensive public information on the matters they are involved in including the size and urgency of the issues they are addressing. The refugee crisis is a big one.
“The organisation also publically declares where funds are spent within the organisation which is approximately seven per cent to administration, 16 per cent to fund raising and 77 per cent to the work at hand.
“Anyone attending the exhibition can be confident that all monies raised will help these refugee children.”
Entry to the exhibit is $10 per person and includes finger food and entertainment provided by local ukulele group, The Park Bench Players. Tickets are available at the door on the night.
