NOTCHING up another win at The Noosa Hill Climb last weekend was 20-year-old Michael Von Rappard in his Hayabusa powered race car.
Michael and his family run a small mechanical workshop in Airlie Beach and are keen competitors in hill climb events here and interstate.
They said they are impressed with the atmosphere of the Noosa event and the challenging 1.5km circuit.
Noosa Beach Car Club spokesperson Noel St John-Wood said the weekend event ran smoothly.
“Saturday’s temperature was a little high but we managed to dodge the storms and rain on Sunday,” he said.
An impressive 170 cars competed over the weekend, with no major incidences reported.
“Competition was very fierce in most of the categories with a fraction of a second deciding place winners,” Noel said.
The Noosa Hill Climb is run jointly by the Noosa Beach Classic Car Club and The Historic Racing Car Club of Queensland and with thanks to the support of local sponsors including Southern Cross Sheds, Noosa Graphica, Bendigo Bank Tewantin, Shannons, Claytons Towing, Autobarn Gympie and Noosa Tewantin RSL.
